Robotics Competitions
With the ever-growing technology industry, there seems to be a constant need for technically minded individuals. In order to spark interest within this industry, schools are starting to focus more on STEM subjects. In addition, many schools are starting to participate in robotics competitions.
These events provide an inspirational learning experience for students by celebrating engineering, science, and technology. They challenge students to think creatively and help foster STEM learning, innovation, and an excitement for robotics.
What Is a Robotic Competition?
A robotic competition is an event in which students or professionals create robots and program them to accomplish a set of tasks. These different tasks could range from scoring balls into goals, hanging on bars, and climbing ropes. After designing and building the robot, each team’s robot must compete against the other robots. Some competitions require the use of branded materials, such as LEGOs or VEX, while other events use open materials. In many instances, robots have to be designed according to certain size requirements.
High school robotics teams are quickly growing in popularity for a number of reasons. They give students the opportunity to expand their understanding of modern technology, plus they help students develop important skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
The Technology Needed
Besides the materials required to build the robot, participants may need to use a computer with programming capabilities or the ability to run a CAD (computer-aided design) program. Having a computer with a fast processor and a lot of RAM will help ensure the computer runs properly during competition.
Robotics requires a level of equipment that RTI can provide through HP devices and technology. In fact, HP has several series of computers built for high-performance tasks like programming. With HP’s next-level equipment, you get the performance that competition requires and cutting-edge hardware built for power and innovation.
